UAE authorities have to move out UAE Food Bank plan with Dubai Municipality. They are going to inaugurate the first food bank off Al Khail Road in Al Quoz. Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE besides Ruler of Dubai in January His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum; announced the UAE Food Bank plan. The project intentions to decrease food wastage and feed the people who are in need within or outside the country.

The project is estimated to cut an expected Dh16b lost in food waste. The plan aims to decrease the ratio in the country each year and help to feed the needy. The authorities also decide to feed the people of Somalia in the later periods. Director General of Dubai Municipality, Hussain Nasser Lootah inaugurated UAE Food Bank officially. The first food bank includes a site office including two containers which are a refrigerator. They can store packaged, canned and dry foods donated by food institutions.
Two food safety investigators stationed at the office to monitor the protection of donated food. The Charity groups that have partnered with the project will collect these food items and give to the needy. Hussain Nasser Lootah said some 30 such banks would be released all over the Emirates. Five will be available in Dubai by the end of the year. Twenty food establishments comprising major hotel groups, hypermarket and supermarket chains signed the agreements to donate food. They supplied account numbers for the UAE Food Bank.
Ten authorized charities signed the agreements also to collect and distribute the food; from the food bank to the needy. They will directly manage ready to eat and fresh food. The municipality partnered with logistics companies for the plan. All the partners have to put up with food safety and hygiene rules specified by Dubai Municipality. They want to ensure that donated food is totally safe for ingesting.
