MMT: What are the main challenges which a makeup artist has to face?
NA: My biggest challenge working in the industry is always to challenge myself to become better and to be innovative. But unfortunately I didn’t find a supportive environment that has encouraged change or creativity.
MMT: Which is the main thing while making a creative makeup artist?
NA: It needs an environment that wants to do things the same way every time because it is easy or convenient. To be truly creative you have to be willing to break the rules, try new things and challenge the status quo.
MMT: Why did you choose this profession?
NA: I think it is the best in the industry, the artists who are always open to learning more. Infect you can get feedback on your work instantly and you have more time to groom your work.
MMT: Does price matter into your work?
NA: The prime challenge for a Makeup Artist will face is becoming skilled enough in negotiation to charge the rates you deserve. When you are starting out try to minimize taking unpaid projects. If you price your rates too low or have no rates at all you undermine the value of your work.
MMT: What is the difference between applying makeup for a TV shoot and applying makeup for a live appearance party?
NA: Makeup for T.V specially HDTV, should be flawless and finished, but not over done or too dramatic. Live performance makeup is usually stronger, more dramatic more theoretical, depending on the character or concept
MMT: Tell us about your experience as a makeup artist?
NA: My experience is most about working in the beauty industry is taking trends and making them relatable and wearable for my clients. I take inspiration from high fashion and editorials to create makeup looks enhancing a woman or man’s natural features and encouraging them to experiment.
MMT: Does learning continue in this field? Did you get something unique there?
NA: I have learned so much from taking the Makeup Artist, Personal Image and Beauty Expert, Fashion Store Assistant & Personal Shopper courses. While the beauty industry is always changing so it is important to challenge yourself to learn more field.
MMT: What inspire you most in makeup?
NA: I’m always inspired by the makeup artists, educators, colleagues, and mentors I have the good fortune to work with. It’s not only what they create but their commitment to mastering their craft, openness to learning and generosity in sharing their knowledge.
MMT: You did celebrities makeup also how do you fell. What was your experience?
NA: With celebrities, I have a great experience when they appreciate & like my work. I really feeling great as a celebrity makeup artist our clients are feeling proud and honor to them & having fun when we share our experience with them.
MMT: Any message for an upcoming makeup artist?
NA: My message to anyone who is interested in getting started in the beauty industry to learn as much as possible through courses, photo shoots, and other artists. Thank you so much.
